Kea Parish Council supports practical local action that protects wildlife, improves biodiversity and helps nature recover across the parish.
Small changes in gardens, verges and community spaces can make a real difference when they are repeated across a neighbourhood.
Ways you can help
- plant native flowers, shrubs and hedging that provide food and shelter for wildlife;
- leave some areas a little wilder and allow plants to flower before cutting;
- avoid unnecessary pesticides and herbicides;
- create small ground-level gaps in fences so hedgehogs can move between gardens;
- provide shallow water safely for wildlife during dry weather;
- record local wildlife and take part in community nature projects; and
- help keep paths, green spaces and waterways free from litter.
